Talking point( Family communication class) Essay
Talking point( Family communication class) - Essay Example Children whose parents divorced are recorded to be exhibiting less ââ¬Å"emotional, behavioral, mental and social stability, have poorer health and inferior academicâ⬠performance (Fabricius et al., 2010, p. 202). Divorce can be caused by a variety of factors and is a very complex emotional issue. In general, divorce rates are increasing due to the rising level of economic independence of a woman and also because of higher educational attainment by most women. There are many social factors contributory to increasing divorce rates these days such as a decline in influence of religion, reduced communalism and a corresponding rise in individualism. However, most of the highly relevant reasons for a divorce are actually the result of a miscommunication or a lack of effective communications between the two principal partners. These are called as the predictive factors of a divorce such as repeated expressions of negative affect, low levels of emotional support, frequent arguments, infidelity and frequent heated arguments. Many of the causes happen on multiple levels and interact (Clarke-Stewart & Brentano, 2007, p. 29). This project is focused on the attachment theory which was originally developed for children and later on extended to adults in family relationships (Feeney & Noller, 1996, p. 5). Specifically, it looks at the dysfunctional nature of their communications (Rholes & Simpson, 2006, p. 23). Attachment theory from a dialectical perspective involves three general thoughts on family relationships that are privacy as against transparency, novelty versus predictability and finally, desired autonomy as against connectedness and intimacy. An important part of the intervention is looking at several talking points designed to help diffuse mis-communications. 1. Talking Point No. 1 ââ¬â It takes two to tango. When people get into trouble with their partners, they usually blame the other person and

Computer Security Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 7500 words
Computer Security - Essay Example In this research a proposal of an offensive defense comprising of a corporate partnership with successful cyber defense software companies to provide a united front against malware is of the highest preference. The initial capital investment of free anti-virus software to users would be offset in time by added security and stability. The key to which is integration of the social subsystem in order to execute such a strategy. Computer usersââ¬â¢ basic lack of knowledge on the dangers that lie within the network system, such as the use of weak passwords or just trusting any e-mails sent to their mailboxes actually makes it easier for hackers to gain access to the vulnerable computers over the networked systems. Presently, the web is a host of viruses, worms, Trojan horses, making unsecured computer devices or computers that their protective software are not up-to-date easier to pull down through introduction of malwares into the systems. Solutions there in are to ensure safe and sec ured system administration. Situation Analysis This project rolls out several ambitious although critical objectives that are directed towards: laying out the central concepts for the current situations in regards to computer security of the stand alone or interconnected devices; to come up with the best definitions that covers the logic encompassed by insecurity consequences over the unprotected computer systems; and the subsequent establishment of a set of foundations that the thereafter work can be build upon. Organizations and individuals whose operations extensively dependent on the use of computers and their services do describe their needs for information security under major concepts of integrity, secrecy, availability and accountability of their required information. Therefore, every computer user has to make prompt decisions on what security as a measure means to him/ her. It is from this description of the userââ¬â¢s needs for security with his/ her personal computer o f organizationsââ¬â¢ computers that security policies are established; and hence, a system that effectively meets those needs is termed as a secure system (Venkatesh, V. et al., 2003, pp. 425-478.). In computer security, it is important take note that technology in never enough for a trusted system. Any business organization must ensure that its secure program takes into account other managerial controls, means of recovery from security breaches, and also full awareness and acceptance of people who are entrusted with the use of such devices (Weirich, D., and Sasse, M. A., 2001, pp. 137-143.). This idea of recognizing a person is brought about by the fact that security cannot be attained in an environment where people are not of full commitment in achieving a secure computer operation as a goal. Security continues to sap vital resources and manpower from the Information Technology (IT) departments. Rather than focusing on the efficiency of knowledge management, IT professionals ar e increasingly swamped with cyber security tasks. Profits from cyber-crime are shifting the threat from board teenagers to well financed professionals. A security survey analysis concluded that as break-ins morph from prank to business, profit-driven attackers

Negative Election Advertising and Its Impact Research Paper
Negative Election Advertising and Its Impact - Research Paper Example Negative advertising has steadily increased from the 1960s, and the messages emanating from these campaigns includeà attacksà focusedà onà individuals and their personal characteristics and issues or attacks that may be relevant or irrelevant to issues being handled at that moment. In this context, Jamiesonà in her researchesà suggestedà thatà negative advertisements focusà mainly on an adversary ââ¬â¢s failureà and are different fromà contrast advertisements, where the latter providesà ââ¬Å"explicità comparisonsà betweenà theà candidatesââ¬â¢Ã qualities,à recordsà orà proposalsâ⬠(Jamieson 99). Researchers have suggested that specific factors often affect the style and mode of negative advertising, such as certain traits of a candidate, characteristics like his or her political status, or gender of the candidate. Researchers further suggestà thatà candidates appearing to trail during campaigns generally prefer using negative advertisements to gain a favorable position.à However, when differences between candidates are very small and one candidate is seen to be leading the campaign by a small margin, that person may resort to negative advertising toà maintainà and the gap and stop the opponents from catching up. Theà gender ofà the mainà candidateà andà his or her adversary,à partyà affiliations,à andà dissimilitude inà electionà funding (between the chief candidate and his opponent)à alsoà affect the use of negativeà advertising. A majority of the researches, until date, have explored negative advertising based on candidate dissimilarities. Book report Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1
Book report - Essay Example He has written a beautiful and thought provoking account on the social history that many people would not have known. Throughout the book, Osofsky uses his great appealing writing to attract the reader till the end. With an attractive way of revealing details, he highlights the change of Harlem from being the largest segregated neighborhood in the nation to a slum. He had never been to Harlem or talked to the people there, but the way he wrote about it would tell you much more about the way he has used his mind. There have been many books previously written around the same topic but in most of these books the authors have only tried to look for the history of Negroes from the surface. The growth and development of the Negro communities have not been a very important issue since the civil war. Many people want to study about the Negro life but the material that is available is scanty. There are newspapers and various kinds of documents available through which one can go back to the 20 th century. The Negro life in the cities can also be generalized through interviews with elderly people who have seen and experienced how the Negroes have settled their tough lives in the areas. There are a few authors who have researched and talked about the Negro history in their books and Osofsky has written one of the finest books. He has shown a series of events that took place since the Negro Resolution in the 1960ââ¬â¢s and how the creation of a Harlem ghetto took place. Since Osofsky has written an account of all the events and details revealed in the series of events, he has made a detailed research about all the history that he could reach up to. The book is well documented about the afro-American migration in the early 20th century. Every new day bought a new turn in the making of the ghetto and Osofsky has managed to analyze every detail in a colorful and informative manner. This book would take you back in the 20th century and bring to you the history that was unreve aled yet eye opening. It shows the period of the black migration and settlement in Harlem exclusively. Gilbert Osofsky has written this book in three parts to make it much clearer and planned out. In the first part, he starts his book with an introduction to the Harlem settlement. Osofsky clearly gives a picture of how Harlem was before this migration. Harlem was a rich neighborhood with no blacks. Instead there were more of Jews and Italians who used to live in that community back in the 1800ââ¬â¢s and early nineteenth century. It shows an analysis of the social, economic and political conditions of a community which was known to be one of the finest neighborhoods in the nation. The creation did not greatly bring a change in the economic condition Harlem was in, but it was a change prominent enough to be seen than what it was to what it is now. Harlem was a wealthy area where ministers and rich people used to live in their mansions. He brings out the history of Harlem before the 20th century and then talks about the events through which this migration of the blacks took place. With his brilliant mind and analysis he reaches out the message to the people and convinces them that the social, economic and political factors were the major reasons why Harlem became a slum. These factors were also greatly the causes behind Harlemââ¬â¢s development equally. The real estate guesswork is what made the upper reaches of Manhattan more accessible for the black migrati

International Marketing Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4250 words
International Marketing - Assignment Example A number of scholars states that this system can be traced back to 6000 years back (Kapil, 2011). International marketing generally involves recognizing the fact that people across the globe have different needs and requirements. In simple terms, it is defined as marketing across the national borders (Campbell, 2009). In this paper, such difficulties will be uncovered and along with that solutions to those problems will be also highlighted. Apart from that, the significance of important tools such as multinational marketing information system (MMIS), IMC etc. will be also highlighted. The firm chosen for this purpose from the UK market in Vodafone and the BEM (Big Emerging Market) selected for the company to enter is Brazil. Investigation on Vodafoneââ¬â¢s international presence have shown that the company is yet to make its presence in the Brazilian market and Brazil being one of the largest country with emerging economy is a justified choice. Question 1 Trade is becoming increas ingly global and is increasing in size at a robust rate. A number of reasons for this are responsible. One of the most evident one is the progress of technology. The improvement of transportation and communication system has provided companies with heap of opportunities and that made business and trade more practical (Nelson, 1999). The rapid expansion of business houses across the national borders has also tendered opportunities for the customers to avail the best products of different countries. The level of competition has also increased due to globalization as firms compete to produce the best product and offer the highest quality services (Onkvisit and Shaw, 2004). However, an organization operating in the overseas market has to face certain difficulties in getting accustomed with the situation of the target country. The issues arise in the form of cultural differences, language differences and differences in the market characteristics. Although, the problems mentioned above ap pears after the beginning of operation, but prior to that a number of issues also take place during the phase of market research. An international company might also face difficulties when attempting to research the market for a product or service (Holmquist, 2012). Vodafone is a telecommunication company and therefore the telecommunication sector of Brazil needs to be evaluated. Large companies across the globe have identified that international markets offer huge potentiality for the success of a business. In terms of the market size, countries such as India, Brazil, Russia and China are huge. Furthermore, the purchasing power of the consumers belonging to these countries is significant. Despite that, a company has to deal with a number of difficulties and complexities when attempting to research the market for a product or service in the chosen country. Nowadays, companies and other establishments use marketing research techniques so as to manage and minimize the risks associated with the market (Linder, 2006). Several studies have shown that companies do not spend much amount in developing products that market research indicates will be unsuccessful in the market. However, it is also true that marketing research at times did not shows proper results. The marketing research process is costly and at times produces results that are questionable. Now for Vodafone to enter the Brazilian market with its telecommunication products, it needs

External Auditing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4000 words
External Auditing - Essay Example External auditors have played an important role in organisation. Even in corporation which have been spending a lot of money in their internal auditing system, some have been found to be seeking for the service of external auditors. Therefore there is a question that is being raised on this emerging trend in auditing and the role that is being played by the external auditors in corporate governance. This trend of seeking the service of external auditors has grown to be an issue in corporate governance stemming from the understanding of trust that shareholders have on the board and the auditing system of the organization. In many instances, it is the board which is trusted with the everyday running of the organization and therefore it is expected that this board should be trusted even with the results of the internal auditors.
